Engagement information

Our goal is for Neurodivergent Friendly Cardiff to be shaped by people with lived experience. To achieve this, we have been engaging with neurodivergent individuals, family members and professionals. This has included holding a successful engagement event and several focus groups online.

A number of stakeholders have attended our focus groups. This has helped us gather valuable feedback from:

  • neurodivergent individuals,
  • parents and families,
  • unpaid carers,
  • advocates, and
  • professionals.

    Ideas Tree

Our engagement involved speaking to people with lived experience to talk about the barriers and challenges that they face in the city. We identified that some of the most common challenges faced by the neurodivergent community are:

    • stigma,
    • lack of understanding, and
    • the quality of the information available.

As well as raising awareness of the challenges and barriers, our engagement also provided an open space for people to share solutions on how we can make the city more inclusive. Ideas to make Cardiff more neurodivergent friendly include:

    • improving understanding of neurodivergence,
    • creating more neurodivergent friendly spaces, and
    • increasing information about neurodivergence and the services available.
